How Digital Ceramic Printing on Glass Works

1. Define the Design Intent

Establish the appearance, coverage goal, viewing conditions, and glass requirements.

2. Prepare and Review Artwork

Provide production-ready artwork or coordinate scale, placement, color, resolution, and panel alignment with PGS.

3. Approve a Sample

Review a physical sample under representative lighting and viewing conditions.

4. Coordinate Glass and Fabrication

Confirm glass type, thickness, dimensions, edges, holes, notches, orientation, and print surface.

5. Print, Temper, and Inspect

PGS prints the ceramic ink, tempers the glass to fuse the design permanently, and inspects the finished panels.

Digital ceramic printing can also create solid fields of color for wall panels, feature surfaces, casework, signage, and other applications requiring a uniform or coordinated appearance.

Not necessarily. Glass composition, ink coverage, lighting, viewing side, and digital displays can affect perceived color. A physical sample is recommended when color accuracy is important.

PGS coordinates artwork and project samples so the design team can review color, coverage, scale, and overall appearance before production.

Yes. Multi-panel designs can be coordinated, but accurate glass dimensions, panel orientation, fabrication details, print placement, and installation sequence must be established early.

Vector files are generally preferred for patterns, logos, linework, and text. High-resolution raster files may be used for photographs or detailed imagery. PGS will confirm the approved file format, resolution, color information, scale, and panel layout before production.

Final cutting, drilling, notching, and edgework should be completed before tempering. Tempered glass generally cannot be cut or altered afterward.
