Expanding Capacity for Specialized Care
AdventHealth Daytona Beach’s $220 million expansion added more than 240,000 square feet and 104 inpatient beds, increasing the hospital’s total capacity to 466 beds. The project expanded intensive and progressive care services, including a dedicated neuro-ICU and an enlarged cardiovascular intensive care unit.
Four additional surgical suites, expanded imaging capabilities, and larger support departments further increased the hospital’s capacity to serve patients across Volusia County. AdventHealth announced the project’s completion in August 2026.
Integrating Privacy Into the Glazing
Privacy Glass Solutions supplied more than 200 BetweenGlassBlinds™ units for the new bed tower. The units incorporate Venetian blinds sealed between two sheets of glass, allowing visibility to be adjusted without adding exposed blinds to the interior.
Installed within interior windows, BGB allows users to tilt the slats for greater visibility or increased privacy. The enclosed design keeps the blinds contained within the glazing and creates a clean, integrated appearance throughout the installation.

Access From Both Sides
For this project, BGB was supplied with dual-sided controls and anti-ligature knobs. Controls on both sides allow users to adjust the blinds from either side of the glazing, providing flexibility as privacy needs change.
Tilting the slats changes the sightline through the window while the glass remains in place. The selected configuration makes privacy adjustment accessible from both adjoining spaces, with anti-ligature knobs incorporated into the control design.

Enclosed Blinds, Accessible Glass Surfaces
Healthcare interiors require attention to both daily use and routine cleaning. By enclosing the blind slats between the glass, BGB removes the need to dust or wipe individual slats.
The exposed glass surfaces remain accessible for cleaning, while the enclosed blinds are protected from direct handling. This combines adjustable privacy with a practical approach to maintaining the surrounding interior.
